Located in the heart of Dallas’ Bishop Arts District, Bishop North blends modern luxury with artistic flair to reflect the neighborhood’s vibrant character. Developed by Exxir, a local firm with an ongoing investment in the area, the project is part of a growing portfolio of apartments, restaurants, and retail; several of which are also designed by HEDK. Residents benefit from exclusive amenities, including room service from Exxir-owned restaurants.

Set within Dallas’ PD 830, the project required navigating detailed zoning standards that shaped building massing, materials, elevation details, and roof forms. The design offers a contemporary interpretation of nearby historic retail architecture, using brick and glass as primary materials, accented with metal roofing and custom designed tile. This tile is also used in two paseos that lead to a central courtyard, made possible by placing parking underground. The result is a quiet, private outdoor space that offers a peaceful retreat from the surrounding activity.

Amenities include a rooftop fitness center with outdoor space and a resort-style pool inspired by the coastal aesthetics of Tulum and Morocco. The resident lounge features a reading nook, pool table, and social spaces with large folding glass doors that open to the street in good weather. A historic oak tree on-site was preserved and incorporated into a dog park for residents. Unit interiors continue the project’s blend of artistry and elegance, with handmade pendants, open shelving, barn doors, black and graphite hardware, and custom tile showers.

Recognized for its design excellence even before completion, the project received the 2018 Grand Aurora Award for Best On the Boards Mixed-Use Project. Bishop North brings together architecture and place, creating a residential experience rooted in the fabric of Bishop Arts.
