Oasis at Stone Oak is an early example of HEDK's built-to-rent housing model, combining the privacy and comfort of a single-family home with the convenience of apartment living. The community offers a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom residences arranged as townhomes, duplexes, and freestanding cottages.
The project's defining challenge was its dramatic topography. Approached from Canyon Golf Road to the east, the site descends nearly 90 feet to an existing channel before rising approximately 70 feet to the west. Through careful planning and the introduction of split-level units tailored to varying grade conditions, the development adapts seamlessly to the terrain. The site layout also preserves the natural landscape, protecting more than 150 mature trees while creating a residential setting that feels integrated with its surroundings.
A variety of building types and façade treatments creates the character of a traditional residential neighborhood. Rear-access garages and street-facing front porches reinforce a pedestrian-oriented streetscape, while end units benefit from private yards. A centrally located fitness center and pool courtyard serve as the community's primary shared amenities.
The project's dramatic terrain ultimately became its greatest asset, shaping a distinctive residential community that is deeply connected to the landscape and uniquely responsive to its setting.
